Club Med from the Plage

Club Med from the Plage

Drop Cap ur last full day. A bit sad, really because Mac seems to be relaxing more but it's a bit late, we leave tomorrow. We have just lazed around today. It's not very warm, a little cool and windy, certainly not hot enough to tempt me into the water. We have bought some more souvenirs, they were selling T-shirts at 2 for the price of one in the boutique this morning, so I got 2 and a couple of other things. I still have 2000 CFPs (approx $25) left but have got rid of all my change.

Drop Cap onight is Dress Night, and a fashion show and a Round the World show after dinner (the best yet, I really enjoyed it). We have to pack and have it downstairs by 10 a.m.

Farewell from Club Med

Farewell from Club Med

Drop Cap fter clearing our room and bringing down the luggage etc we still had an hour to kill so wandered over to Le Grand Cafe for morning tea. Only six of us were leaving Air Caledonie for Sydney at that time so we had a small farewell with the usual music and clapping and waving. At the airport we cleared the customs etc easily (Luckily not bound for NZ because Auckland was fogbound and there were queues of people waiting for flights) then spent $30 or so on a lovely Limoges porcelain egg shaped box in deep blue with gold decorations at the Duty Free. The flight was uneventful but long, a little turbulence but nothing to concern. I don't know why I always find return flights more tiresome and downright uncomfortable than outgoing ones. Mascot was totally empty when we arrived. Passport and customs control was the easiest I have ever known and good old Chris and Dick were there to meet us.

Drop Cap ell, our objectives for the holiday were certainly achieved. I am glad we opted for Club Med because Noumea didn't impress us. I heard a lot of French but sorry to say I was completely "bouleversee" as the French say because whenever anyone spoke to me in French I freaked out. It was very frustrating after all my years of study although I realised afterwards that I usually did understand what they said it was too late and too late to formulate an answer. I need some spontaneity. Maybe I do need to go to France where they certainly won't help you like they did here.
We may try another Club Med one day.
